LIGHT FOR THE PATH

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” –  Ephesians 1:18

Contentment:

“Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.” –

Philippians 4:11-12

As Paul writes,  he has learned to live a life for Christ, not looking at what others have, but seeking to have a closer relationship with Jesus.

It is easy to see the “prosperity” of others and think,  “Why not me” Lord?”  Yet, do we really know how their life is going? Maybe they do have more money;  but how is their family life.   How will their children grow up?   How is their spiritual life?

Let us seek after a bountiful “spiritual life” and other blessings will come. The Lord is faithful to those who serve Him, to those who seek after Him.

WARRIORS FOR CHRIST NEWS

Warriors for Christ Discipleship

•          Spring discipleship outreach to Kamloops B.C. – April 25th through 28th Warriors for Christ will be heading north to Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada to be a part of the British Columbia Native Christian conference.  The keynote speaker for the conference will be Pastor Emerson Falls from Oklahoma.

It will be a great time to network, meeting new and old friends of Warriors for Christ and setting up new contacts for discipleship training using Walking the New Path. We will be setting up a Warriors for Christ table, so if you are at the conference, come by and introduce yourself. We would love to meet you!

On the average 100 people attend, coming from Canada, Washington, Idaho and Montana.  The conference was originally started by Native Evangelical Fellowship, with InterAct and NAIM Fellowship ministries involved. The emphasis will be on Biblical training as opposed to a cultural conference.  Warriors for Christ will fit right in because that is the key to our ministry – Biblical discipleship.

To make all this happen we need your help, support, and prayers.

Special needs for this trip:

          Prayer  – asking the Lord to open new doors

          Financial gifts to help cover – gas, food, lodging, and copies of Walking the New Path for pastors and those involved in ministry

COME JOIN US –  Look for the Warriors for Christ  table

•          Warriors for Christ discipleship outreach –

This is an easy way to share the Good News with those you love.  Or these resources can be used as  a training tool for disciplers, for small group discussion, or for the general public.  They can be used on the reservation, and in urban areas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npzD-rvfHRI

WALKING THE NEW PATH

(Below is an excerpt of the Warriors for Christ discipleship course, Walking the New Path. Each newsletter we add a new section each newsletter.)

(LESSON 7, Talking with your Father Creator – Prayer, Part 4)

C.  How to pray

1. Place – Where do you pray?

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:6

It helps to have a place set apart to pray. It could be in your bedroom, in the living room, outside, a nearby coffee shop; a place that is quiet, relaxing and where interruptions are few. From your kitchen to your office – have a regular place to pray and meditate on His Word .

Go somewhere you can talk to Him personally, just you and the Lord, whether out loud or within your mind, He can hear you. You can also pray with others , in a small group, Bible study, or church (Matt. 18:19, but remember to keep your focus on God, rather than seeking an emotional experience.

2.  Time – when to pray

A devotional time is when you set aside a special time and place to get to know the Lord through the reading of His Word and praying to Him. This will develop a deeper relationship with Him.

Pray often. If you can, have this time first thing in the morning. (Discuss with your discipler when and where). Try to get together with your Creator at least 4 times a week. Pray for someone hurt in an accident you just saw, a nephew who has an ear infection, or a bad habit you are dealing with. Just as youth are constantly on their cell phones  talking, or texting with their friends, you can constantly talk with your loving Father Creator.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” – Mark 1:35

What is your best place and time for prayer?
